What you're looking at are the pieces of a circa 1900 china cabinet that I will restore. This cupboard is a beautiful, old piece made of solid walnut, and it's ornamentation is exceptional for a piece of its kind. It originally was finished in varnish, but someone put at least three coats of hideous paint on it. This will be a fine piece when completed and will be For Sale, so if you want something special done to it, please call me. Come back to see how it turns out!
Here's a close up of the broken and loose leg detached from the cabinet base entirely.
We'll fix that better than new. Keep an eye on things here, come back anytime.
Hurrah. Most of the (3 coats) of old paint have been removed. The cupboard is standing on it's own four feet. The front leg has been reattached and is now stronger than the original, and a loose rear leg has been tightened up firmly and glued back in place.
The left side piece of the crown molding has been reproduced and replaced, and other minor repairs of the crown will be done as well.
Worked on the drawer some more, three coats of old paint have been removed, and it's freshly sanded. This drawer front woodwork is called a matched book fold veneer. In the final photo you can see the grain better.
The fully restored cabinet.
