Saving A Plank
Then the butterflies were made, their outlines scribed on the face of the plank, and the mortises cut to fit. Here you see the completed butterflies, and the spline.
One side of the plank has been cut straight, the other left as a natural edge. The straight edge will go against the back of a sofa, and the natural edge will be the one people see.
A sturdy piece to last for generations.
Finally the planed plank.
